Major Lazer’s Hold The Line has good chances of becoming 2009′s most remixed track huh? An all star line-up of remixers did some good work so we put them in a mix. The idea sounded so dumb it just had to be good. One song stretched to 25 minutes and its not getting repetitive. Is it? Props to Cheezy P for the mix!

We met 2 Live Crews Mr.Mixx at our favorite Table Dance spot in Düsseldorf and wrangled two tracks out of him. Since Electro Dancehall is the thing of the bing right about now, we put two Major Lazers and Terry Lynns “It Was Written” in the mix. The only comparison John found for our mash up from hell was Teki Latex from France who rapped on a hardcore tune once, too. To the author “German rap seems to work with gabba because the menacing intonation of the language matches the unrelenting techno beat. But French rapping over a hardcore soundtrack is pretty jarring.” While we only scared the shit out of him, French Hakke Rap is “more painful than listening to Jonathan Ross read every single word in the Oxford English Dictionary between “qwerty” and “saar”.” I don’t know who this Jonathan guy is, but believe it would be painful too if I tried to pronounce those words. Kwörtie? Imma keep rapping in German so we keep the frigheting harshness and The Guardian keeps liking our music.

I like Tekis Song too, covered it here once (French Hakke Rap. Lovin It.).

Again, I love it when a plan comes together. Yea our language might sound harsh to some. Yea, my rap style doesnt really make it a lullaby neither. No, I’m not what Adolf Hitler on a rap beat would sound like. And yessss the menacing intonation of the language matches the unrelenting techno beat. We do love that too. Somebody call the New York Times! We got a new song comming!

why do music sessions allways end with conversations about drugs and violence?

this time i was in hagen with brenna and clitko to produce a new hakke rap beat. used the korg triton and some cubase plugs and the outcome is real nice. brenna is a drummer, next to rapper and producer, so he knocked the drums in like it was nuthin.

When The Streets first came out i really got into it. though i was listenin to nearly nuthin but straight us-rap stuff and couldt imagine ever to think that english-english could sound good. thing is, dude sounded hella good, even though hes on a trip of his own and being english as luke warm beer with strange aromatics and free newspapers. the streets was not only step one on my way to recognizin that england is a dope place its also music, that might be a remote relative to the stuff i do today.

the only time i questioned likin Skinners music was when i heard stuents at university talkin bout how this genius was doin all his music alone and at home and with nuthin but a laptop. ended up decidin that it wasnt mikes fault to be liked by the intellectual elite. dude is proll (just learned they call a proll chav in england. aha).

other thing is, i’m thinkin about if there is an audience for my aggressive, lyrics-loaded, personal hardcore tracks or if the chav (yea, i just learned that) club tracks with lesser lyrics are the only stuff to reach people with. mike skinner might be an example (like grime or even lützenkirchens “3 tage wach”) that techrap doesnt have to be reduced to two lines of lyrics to be workin. whatever, we gon do what we feel like doin and see where it takes us, right?
