Dirty House is an electro house variation with a latin house influence, lots of vocals and (if you believe the english wiki) “much more commercial in its appeal” than e house. Garage and Grime are other influences. Sounds good, hm? If you cut out the commercial thing, at least. If we talk about rap I’m nobody who still believes the underground would push things forward (though that might change at the moment, if you consider the net “underground”). If we talk about dance, “commercial appeal” sounds too much like soft music too me.

But lets get to the point: Vato Gonzalez is a dirty house DJ from the netherlands who did some nice bmore work. Found this one with MR JDK on baltimore-club.com. A remix to T.I.s (& Jay-Zs) Swagger Like Us. The lyrics of Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Jay-Z werent used, I guess some more rap wouldnt do bad in it. M.I.A.s line (originally from Paper Planes and T.I.s hookline, works fine as usual.

மாதங்கி ‘மாயா’ அருள்பிரகாசம், better known by her stage name M.I.A., launched her own clothing line. Her brand is called Extended Merch, designed by Miss M.I.A. herself and Okley Leslie and delivers shirts, bodysuits, hoodies and leggings to your girlfriend. The designs are inspired by M.I.A.s album covers. It’s supposed to be buy-able here, but i didnt find it.. just found it, you gotta look for Okley by MIA.

Did she do a good job? Fuck do i know?? ask my girlfriend (she says it looks like vibskov and says you can get leggins like that @ apparel). i’d say first pic looks dumb, second one is nice, really looks mia.

I dont know if y’all is watchin The Wire. I promised myself to do that one day but for real, watchin the english version on the net was too i-dont-understand-a-damn-thang for me. I’ll try again with a good audio system attached. Anyways, M.I.A. took Homie DJ Blaqstarr and Tom Waits “Way Down In The Whole” to make adope remix to The Wires theme music.

kuduro is one hell of a musical style. african techno (ignorant description?^^) is killin it anyway. i just featured this one in raveline magazine:

buraka som sistema are pretty much hyped by journalists at the moment. the genre, kuduro, is bouncin in lissabon and thats where buraka som sistema come from. still kuduro (“hard ass”) has its roots in angola (i read that, gotta be true). so the video location wasnt chosen out of cheapest-flight causes.
not hard to recognize that kuduro is not that different from other styles that developed in africa out of tapes tourists forgot in the early nineties.

this one is from cabo verde, where fu is livin, a brother from my my crew highlight, puttin in work for schakkerhart. the sound they pump over there is called batuko.

another one he showed me. this one is really huge in cabo verde. the title of the song means something like “put your hands on the ground”.
