<p><strong>Radioclit</strong> did a <strong>Funana</strong> mix!  Since I spent the first part of the year in <strong>Cape Verde</strong>, that made my day. Second Radioclit post in a row I guess I owe them a beer for all that a sonic satisfaction.</p>
<p>Most people dont even know where <strong>Cape Verde</strong> is and now there music is poppin up. Why? Hm I guess <strong>Radioclit</strong> listened to some <strong>Buraka Som Sistema</strong> and checked the neighboring countries for something to redo theirselfes. What they did on their <em><strong>&#8220;Fu (Na Na Na) Mix&#8221;</strong></em> is actually the same <strong>Buraka Som Sistema</strong> did to <strong>Angola</strong>s <strong>Kuduro</strong>. You take the original music and mix it with fitting, high tech western music till it passes the bouncer. Since <strong>Lissabon</strong>s <strong>Kuduro</strong> scene is made up of as many Cape Verdians as Angolans (the countrys are connected since they shared a colonial occupant), I guess theyd go bananas over some pimped out <strong>Funana</strong> too. The only western guys who did that before is <strong>Schlachthof Bronx</strong> from <strong>Munich</strong> far as I know.</p>
<p> </p>

<p> </p>
<p>I got wise to the mix by checking <a title="http://ghettobassquake.blogspot.com/2009/06/funana-in-your-face.html" href="http://ghettobassquake.blogspot.com/2009/06/funana-in-your-face.html">ghettobassquake.blogspot.com</a> </p>
<p>Thanks! He found it on <a href="http://www.corporatebloggin.com/2009/06/fair-trade.html">corporatebloggin.com</a> so they cool too.</p>
<p>    </p>
<p><strong>Radioclit</strong> put some <strong>Pitbull &amp; Lil Jon</strong>, Grime (<strong>Skepta &amp; Wiley</strong>), Soca, Speed Merengue and whatever they felt was uptempo enough to the Funana tracks. It has the same effect as Buraka Som Sistema puttin some electro and dubstep to Kuduro in their production. It puts the pill in the cake. Talkin about pills: If you took an X pill the last month, the mix will bring it back.</p>
<p> <br />
Original <strong>Funana</strong> is based on two main instruments. The <strong>ferro</strong>, a metal stick with notches, scraped for the percussion and the accordion, called gaita. Drums and guitars get added. Its pretty monoton and repetitive what makes it hypnotising and right up my alley. I saw <strong>Ferro Gaita</strong>, one of the big bands, while I was in the city of <strong>Tarrafal</strong> and had a ball.</p>
<h1><a title="Ferro Gaita - É Si Própi" href="http://schakkerhart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/FerroGaita_ESiPropi.mp3">Ferro Gaita &#8211; É Si Própi</a></h1>
<p>[podcast]http://schakkerhart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/FerroGaita_ESiPropi.mp3[/podcast]</p>
<p>It comes with some holiday pics if you dont mind. </p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Ferro Gaita" src="http://schakkerhart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/caboverde_ferrogaita_schakkerhartcom.jpg" alt="" width="610" height="458" /><br />
<img src="http://schakkerhart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/caboverde_ferrogaita_schakkerhartcom3.jpg" alt="Ferro Gaita @ Tarrafal, Cabo verde" /></p>
<p> <img src="http://schakkerhart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/caboverde_ferrogaita_schakkerhartcom2.jpg" alt="Cabo Verde Ferro Gaita" /></p>
<p>I guess thats due to the time I connect with it but I fuckin love that song. The melody makes me melancholic as fuck.</p>
<p>The <strong>Schlachthof Bronx</strong> track I was talkin about:</p>
<p> </p>
<h1><a title="Schlachthof Bronx - Funana" href="http://schakkerhart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/schlachthofbronx_funana.mp3">Schlachthof Bronx &#8211; Funana</a></h1>
<p>[podcast]http://schakkerhart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/schlachthofbronx_funana.mp3[/podcast]</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Even better than the traditional version is modern <strong>Funana</strong>. More base heavy and even faster. Listen to that on a pimped out share taxi speeding through serpentines, and you dont need no club no more.</p>
<p>An example I found on <a title="Funana" href="http://ghettobassquake.blogspot.com/2009/06/funana-in-your-face.html">ghettobassquake.blogspot.com:</a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?0yhomumitdz">Duda-Dja Txiga Nha Bes</a></p>

<p>
If youre looking for a news and elegant way of rubbing genitals against each other, learn to dance the Cabo Verde way.<br />
I&#8217;m gettin itchy feed. And its not that I didnt change my tennis socks. Perhaps I should visit those palm trees again. Flights is cheap (check<a title="http://www.funana.de/kapverden/" href="http://www.funana.de/kapverden/"> funana.de</a>), the German summer sucks, so far, and Bundesliga is in its summer break. So what?</p>

<p><BR></p>
<p>got get <a href="http://www.lastfm.de/music/Buraka+Som+Sistema+-+Black+Diamond+%5B2008%5D">Buraka Som Sistema &#8211; Black Diamond</a>,<br />
<BR></p>
<p><strong>buraka som sistema</strong> are pretty much hyped by journalists at the moment. the genre, kuduro, is bouncin in lissabon and thats where<strong> buraka som sistema </strong>come from. still kuduro (&#8220;hard ass&#8221;) has its roots in angola (i read that, gotta be true). so the video location wasnt chosen out of cheapest-flight causes.<br />
not hard to recognize that kuduro is not that different from other styles that developed in africa out of tapes tourists forgot in the early nineties.</p>
<p>another nice one from <strong>princes of kuduro</strong> out of angola:<br />
<BR></p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5El-x-5SlwU&amp;hl=de&amp;fs=1" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="610" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5El-x-5SlwU&amp;hl=de&amp;fs=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object><br />
<BR></p>
<p>this one is from<strong> cabo verde</strong>, where <strong>fu</strong> is livin, a brother from my my crew <strong>highlight</strong>, puttin in work for<strong> schakkerhart</strong>. the sound they pump over there is called <strong>batuko</strong>.</p>
<p><BR></p>
<p><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qbHumfc6ZK0&#038;hl=de&#038;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qbHumfc6ZK0&#038;hl=de&#038;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="610" height="344"></embed></object><br />
<BR></p>
<p>another one he showed me. this one is really huge in cabo verde. the title of the song means something like &#8220;put your hands on the ground&#8221;.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.imeem.com/people/olWPnjA/music/DQ0utBms/cabo_verde_mom_poi_mo_na_xion/">capo verde mom &#8211; poi mo na xiom</a></strong><br />
<BR></p>
<p>more techno rap mash ups following, i got a damn long &#8220;to-blog&#8221; list&#8230; what you say about those above??</p>
